Our Story

NISD works at community level in Cameroon and has taken part in regional and international meetings on sustainable development since 2013. Its recorded activities include environmental restoration and tree planting, support for schools and young children, health system strengthening and pandemic preparedness, road safety, water and sanitation, and support for older people and other vulnerable groups.

The institute keeps a documentary record of its work — signed activity reports, photographs and conference participation records — and the material published on this website is drawn from that record.

Children, older people, women and people with disabilities are part of the design, not an afterthought.

We work with local authorities, schools, health centres and community groups rather than apart from them.

Activities are documented and reported, so that communities and partners can see what was delivered.

Our Approach

NISD works with the people who live with a problem rather than around them. A typical project begins with the community and the local authority, combines practical work with training, and keeps a record of what was done so that the result can be checked later.
